Her. New Vision II 每 Malaysia & Singapore Women Artists Exhibition jointly organized by Malaysia Women Art Association and International Women Artists- Singapore (INWAA-Singapore) will be held at the following venues :


Venue 1- Artseni Gallery, Lot 10, level 4, Kuala Lumpur 每 March 8每 18, 2012
Venue 2- DaTang Fine Arts, Singapore- May 5 -15, 2012

Aims & Vision:

  1. To provide a platform for women artists of Malaysia & Singapore, to exhibit their paintings under one roof so as to promote friendship and cultural interaction amongst women artists of different nationalities and cultures.
  2. To promote cultural awareness and cooperative spirit among women artists for the growth of a new global culture that stress on peace and international collaboration.
  3. Artworks created by contemporary women artists are concrete revelation of a new vision and identity related to the unique female sensitivities and the aspiration of the women artists for art, life and aesthetics. it is hoped that this exhibition will help to remind people of love, compassion and humanity.

 The opening of ※Her. New Vision II 每 Malaysia & Singapore Women Artists Exhibition§  will be held on the March 10. 2012 at 3.00pm H.E. Dato Mohd. Yusof Ahmad, Director General national Visual Arts Gallery has kindly consented to be the Guest of Honour to officiate the opening

This event is to commemorate with the International Women Artists Day 2012. In March 2012, 12 artists from Singapore will be arriving in
Kuala Lumpur to attend the opening ceremony and to participate in art exchange activities like art tour, art sharing and sight seeing. 


In
May 5, 2012, 12 Malaysian women artists will be attending the opening at Singapore by Dr. Ho Kah Leong, the President of Singapore Arts Federation. They will also be involved with art tour and art interaction with the Singaporean women artists.

Malaysia Women Art Malaysia (Pertubuhan Seni Wanita Malaysia)

 

The establishment of Malaysia Women Art Malaysia is to encourage cooperation, mutual support and friendship among the women artists of Malaysia

 

The concept of promoting women*s art through exhibition of the artworks created by women artists began as early as in 1993 when Dr. Yuen Chee Ling, Director/ Principal of Conservatory of Fine Arts gathered a group of  7 women artists from the various regions of Asia to exhibit their paintings at the  at the Gallery of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China under the banner of  ※Her Presence In Colours 每 7 Asian Women Artists Exhibition§ . The pioneer group of women artists were: Sylvia Lee Goh, Sharifah Fatimah Syed Zubir and Yuen Chee Ling  from Malaysia, Nancy Koh Lee and Alysia Lee from Hongkong,  Lin Lin Lan and Chen Chiu Zhin from Taiwan. The aim of the exhibition was to foster the awareness of the unique essence of women art that reflects female sensitivities and the innermost feelings and thoughts of the individual woman artists in relation to life, art and compassion . Supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Malaysia, Penang State Government , Foreign China Malaysia Friendship Association and Central Academy of Fine Arts, the success of this first women artists show in Asia was overwhelming.

To continue the mission of promoting women*s art and to foster the awareness of the contribution of the women artists who have offered their truthful and honest self in art,  Conservatory of Fine Arts continued to organize ※Her Presence In Colours II- Asian Women Artists Exhibition§ to present the artworks of 12 well-known Asian women artists at the Penang State Art Gallery in 1995.

Asia- Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hongkong  and China

 

Women Arts Associates established in 1998 was the co-organizer of Her Presence In Colours III- International Women Artists Exhibition at the Penang State Art Gallery. The exhibition features the artworks created by 41 women artists from 13 countries.

As time goes by,  Her Presence In Colours exhibition series has expanded in its scope and arena. Her Presence In Colours IV- IX were held in Bangkok, UK- Sheffield (UK), Melbourne, Dague( Korea), Beijing, Portland (USA). The coming Her Presence In Colours X- Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City) 2012 involved 211 women artists of different nationalities with various cultural background from over 20 countries.

Conservatory of Fine Arts is now the headquater of the International Women Artists Council (INWAC), an international network that coordinated with women artists from over 20 countries. It is now a global network with 17 subcenters ( known as "INWAA- ( country name)  established at different countries.

Malaysia Women Art Association, an offshoot of Women Art Associates was officially registered in Malaysia as a non governmental organization in 2009. The aim  is to continue the mission of promoting women*s art through art and cultural activities like exhibition, women art conference and cultural visit. Dr. Yuen Chee Ling serves as the Founder cum President. The other founder members include the Vice President Sylvia Lee Goh, Secretary Chiou Ling Chyi and committee members: Zuzila Zain,  Hurhayati Yusoff. Siti Mariah Jackson, Yoon Sook Fong, Lee Hui Lan.

 

The participants of Her Presence In Colours 每 7 Asian Women Artists Exhibition:  Chen Chiu Zhin,  Sylvia Lee Goh, Nancy Koh Lee,  Dr. Yuen Chee Ling, Lin Lin Lan and Alysia Lee attended the opening at Gallery of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China.

His Excellency Dato Noor Adlan Yahayauddin, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Peoples' Republic of China, officiated the opening ceremony at Central Academy of Fine Arts in July 8, 1993.

In 1995, Her Presence In Colours II- Asian Women Artists Exhibition held at the Penang State Art Gallery. - T.Y.T Tun Dato Sri ( Dr.) Haji Hamdan bin Sheikh Tahir, The Governer of Penang officiated the opening.

 

1998- Her Presence In Colours III- International Women Artists Exhibition held at the Penang State Art Gallery in March 1998 was officially launched by Puan Sri Chui Kah Ping, wife of the Chief Minister of Penang Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon officiate the opening at the Penang State Art Gallery

Previous Activities

  2010- Women Art & Environment- Paintings created by 22 Local Women Artists-
March 5-15, 2010 @
Galeri Art Point, Penang.

The first inaugural exhibition of Malaysia Women Art Association was the ※Women Art and Environment ※exhibition held at Galeri Art Point Penang commencing 5th of March, 2010 till 15th of March 2010. This event is to commemorate with the occasion of the celebration of the International Women*s Day 2010. The exhibition was officially declared opened by YB Puan Ong Kok Fooi, the Penang State Executive Councilor for Youth and Sports, Women, Family and Community Development on the March 5, 2010.  22 Malaysian women artists exhibited their artworks using natural dyes colours. Highlight event is the displayed of a large painting created by the participants of the exhibition using eco friendly natural colours.

A cross cultural art exchange event jointly organized by Malaysia Women Art Association and International Women Artists- Shanghai and supported by Pusat Pengajian Seni - USM and College of Fine Art Shanghai Normal University.

Her.New Vision 每An Exchange Exhibition between China & Malaysia Women Artists featuring 40 women originated from 每 China - Malaysia was successfully held at the Wuxing Gallery, Shanghai Normal University in May 30 to June 3, 2010. 16 Malaysian women artists traveled to Shanghai to witness the occasion of the opening and to visit the Shanghai World Expo. Other activities include art conference at Shanghai Normal University, out -door painting session at the Bund together with international artists of various nationalities, art tour and cultural visit.

In July, 2010 the same group of women artists exhibited  their artworks at Penang Adiwarna Gallery, University Sains Malaysia (USM) commencing July 3 to July 7.  16 artists from Shanghai attended the opening of the exhibition and took part in art exchange activities like cultural tour, art workshop and art auction dinner.

YB Puan Lydia Ong Kok Fooi, Chairman of Penang State Youth and Sports, Women, Family and Community Development officiated the opening at Galeri Adiwarna, Pusat Seni USM  on 6th July at 11am.
